Animal Assisted Activities (AAA) Program
Animal Assisted Activities (AAA) program is specially designed by MNAWF to promote special activities to improve the quality of life of under privileged or disabled persons through animal association. A program to establish a bond between people and animal.
AAA’s First Project
Our first program starts with an avenue for rescued dogs to be re-homed. There were 22 dogs rescued from the MPSJ Puchong Pound in July, 2006 which were destined to be euthanised. Ti-Ratana Welfare Socieity in Seri Kembangan volunteered to accommodate these dogs on humanitarian grounds. These dogs were nurtured and fostered by the resident children. These dogs were obedient trained and medically preventive health care instituted and the children have prepared them to be re-homed again. A contribution from the resident children to the community.
The Rescued Dogs
These dogs were vaccinated, de-wormed, neutered and are now ready for adoption with good health status. Intensive health care for these dogs were provided by the Animal Medical Centre and preventive health care products were provided by Rhone Ma Malaysia. These dogs were given a basic training to obey and to socialize with people with confidence.
The Trainers and Trainee
Mr. Wellington Ho a member of MNAWF and his team of trainers trained the resident children to handle and interact with these dogs to care for them and be responsible for them. The children and the dogs were trained together.
The Adopters of Rescued Dogs
Adopters will be briefed on the basic pet owners’ responsibility to the dog and the community. They will be welcomed to the centre to further enhance the basic training.
